After 20 years experience in conventional self storage, (managing 1.2 million sq. ft. of storage space), and a careful review of customers' feedback, Automated Self Storage Systems, LLC was founded.
Customers expressed the need for self and secure storage space locations within the building along with easy and quicker in/out service. At that time Automated Self Storage Systems teamed up with Westfalia Technologies, Inc. to develop an automated system that delivers each storage container directly to the customer providing secure, user friendly, fast and convenient service. Safe & Secure Automated Self Storage of Coconut Creek opened in April of 2009 and is the first Storage Facility worldwide to use this patented automation system for personal storage, business storage, motorcycle, watercraft and automobile storage. The company's commitmnt to community is evidenced by the extraordinary steps taken to ensure the security of items sotred, as well as their adherence to strict LEED specifications in design, construction and operation of the facility.

Anthony V. Pugliese, III – The Pugliese Company Founder
Destiny: The Place to begin a Sustainable Future
A man of keen insight, Anthony V. Pugliese, III is much more than the founder and managing director of Destiny, America’s First Eco-Sustainable City™. He is also the Founder and CEO of The Pugliese Company, a Real Estate Development company where he oversees a team of over a 100 people responsible for smart growth infill and Greenfield projects, with a focus on rezoning and planning for revitalizing previously underutilized land in urban areas.
“Our natural resources are not unlimited,” Anthony says. “Developing our cities and communities will take careful and caring planning to find the solutions to provide a sustainable higher quality of life at a lower ecological cost and economically feasible. Land is our past, our present and our future....Building all the aspects of an eco and sociological sustainable community is our Destiny.”
In a visionary move, Anthony acted quickly to acquire these 41,300 acres of strategically located land in heart of Central Florida; one of the fastest growing regions in Florida which is expected to almost double its current population in the next 4 decades. Rivaling Disney World in size, this prime site is located at the crossroads of the Florida Turnpike, U.S. Route 441 and State Road 60, this 64 square miles of land is all about location, location, and scale. Nearly three times the size of Manhattan, with major roadway infrastructure in place, Destiny is ideally situated within less than an hour of Orlando’s 52 million International tourist destinations and four hour’s drive of 30 million consumers makes it the perfect logistical hub for Clean Tech companies.
Based on the recommendations of the “ How Shall We Grow” a recent report generated by East Central Florida Regional Planning Council, the Urban Land Institute, that also included recommendations of an army of environmental, urban planning, scientific experts and over 2,400 Central Florida residents, Destiny’s location was cited as an ideal location for “Smart Growth” and a new city to accommodate the rapidly expanding Central Florida population. Acquiring land for land’s sake is one thing but the ability to take a clean piece of paper of this scale and not create another typical Florida development of sprawl but a model for an eco city where the environment, economy and the social aspects are planned for a sustainable future is truly visionary.
Destiny will be one of the first cities in the world with an inverted, decentralized, smart-grid infrastructure; allowing the residents and businesses operating in this environment to have a near zero carbon footprint. The Destiny project has recently been cited by the Clinton Climate Initiative/ US Green Building Council as one of the 16 global Climate Positive Developments focused on attaining near zero carbon emissions through eco sustainable planning and integrating clean technology solutions as part of its eco foundation. The self-sustaining city is also preserving more space than it consumes, and supports surrounding agriculture and nature preserves.
A Teenage Entrepreneur
At 17 years old, Anthony V. Pugliese III started his own, highly successful company. Pugliese Pools, built swimming pools throughout New Jersey and New York and by 1969, his natural creativity, love of nature and desire to enhance the typical builder pool, led Anthony to develop a unique design that replicated the look of a natural pond. Both the innovative design and attention to details is what that propelled the Pugliese Pool as a status symbol among the affluent in the Northeast, where the natural pool design continues today.
By 1971, Anthony began branching out into real estate both in New Jersey and Florida; renovating and restoring historic structures in Florida became a lucrative escape from the cold New Jersey winters. Eventually these “cold weather” projects eventually became a full time endeavor of the newly formed “The Pugliese Company” in Florida, here Anthony honed his skills in assessing and increasing the value of vacant urban properties and underutilized space through re-zoning and repackaging a site by monitoring the latest trends and needs. The Pugliese Company continues to focus on these efforts today.
The Pugliese Way
Under Anthony’s guidance, The Pugliese Company, a privately-held, family-owned company, has evolved into a highly successful and well respected firm. His remarkable achievements and forethought of purpose have earned Anthony a reputation as one of the most trusted real estate developers in the state; sought after by joint venture, institutional and individual partners alike.
The Pugliese Company has acquired, sold, managed and/or developed millions of square feet of residential, retail, industrial and commercial properties for manufacturing, chemical plants, distribution centers, shopping centers, self storage facilities, including land for Wal-Mart’s and Sam’s Club’s locations. In 1984, Anthony personally designed the 135,000 square foot Crystal Corporate Center office building, located in Boca Raton, Florida; this double glass arched building was Anthony’s first building design attempt and he won the coveted National Association of Office & Industrial Parks Award.
The “Pugliese Way” of doing business is based on Anthony’s philosophy of where old world traditions, long standing relationships and values; where your word is your bond and a hand shake still counts.
Inventor and Innovator
While land acquisition, sales and development are the core foundation of The Pugliese Company, its diversified portfolio also includes real estate holdings, self storage and automated self storage facilities, a construction company, an IP (Internet Protocol) video recording and camera management technology company as well as, Green Sky Industries, one of the Northeast’s cutting edge commercial and municipal recycling facilities companies. Anthony’s successes go far beyond real estate; he holds patents in IP video technology, electronic ticketing and automated self storage. He has also written a number of screenplays and produced three feature films.
In 1998, Anthony saw a new opportunity for growth when he strategically ventured into the self storage business which until recently focused on the traditional building layout and land use. With the rising prices and lack of land and in urban locations, Anthony turned to innovation to create the new evolution in self storage; Automated Self Storage Systems uses patented state-of-the-art robotics and satellite technology. This 21st century design provides the consumer the ultimate storage experience whereby they never enter the building nor put their stored items on a cart. All units come individually to the customer with the touch of a key pad.
Buildings produce 48 percent of the annual carbon emissions in our country, according to the U.S. Department of Energy. With an eye for the future, Anthony and a team of professionals developed a new method for creating storage facilities. The LEED Certified construction, combined with an automated Storage and Retrieval Machine™ (SRM), and efficiencies that save as much as 50 percent of the normal operating expenses, like the power required for such a building, the first automated self-service building located Coconut Creek, Florida earned the Safe & Secure Automated Self Storage a nomination for the Green Building of America Award.
On a personal note, Anthony’s interest in preserving our nation’s cultural history is underscored by his incredible Pop Culture Collection that spans decades of our nation’s history through the lenses of motion pictures, television, music, and iconic events and figures - from Harry Houdini to Humphrey Bogart, JFK to John Wayne, Batman to the Beatles. The Pugliese Company is located at the Pugliese Corporate Center, 101 Pugliese’s Way, in the heart of the historic Pineapple Grove in Delray Beach, Florida. Anthony was credited by Mayor Jeff Perlman (2001 – 2004) as bringing about the revitalization of the now vibrant, bustling Pineapple Grove district of downtown Delray Beach. Anthony’s bold move into this once blighted area; designing and building some of the finest buildings, mixed-use spaces, and creating a ‘walkable’ neighborhood with a hometown sense of place, earned Anthony and The Pugliese Company high honors in the history of this idyllic seaside town of Delray Beach twice recognized as the “All American City”. Mr. Pugliese is a full-time resident of Gulf Stream, Florida has four children and five grandchildren.Visit The Pugliese Company Website at www.puglieseco.com or visit www.destinyflorida.com.

The Automated Self Storage Technology Provider, Westfalia Technologies, Inc.

Dan Labell, President
Where Innovation Meets Reliability
For over 35 years Westfalia has been committed to innovating and implementing logistical solutions utilizing Automated Storage & Retrieval Systems (AS/RS) and conventional material handling equipment. Our success has been shaped, to a large extent, by the satisfaction of our customers.
Every day we reduce inventory, labor and shipping costs, as well as improve throughput and accuracy for a wide range of businesses.
As designers and planners, the most important driving force for us is working along side our customers as an active partner. This is the only way we can guarantee that the customer receives a total solution that matches their economic, technical and organizational requirements -- down to the last detail. We help you determine which system will work best for your needs -- AS/RS, WMS, Pallet Flow Systems, Conveyors, Case Handling or Case Packing equipment.
We are not interested in forcing an integrated system that we built for another client, or something that is “off-the-shelf”, onto you.
We believe that you will achieve a higher level of benefits from an individual concept based on your exact needs.
Because of this strong belief, we always enter into an intensive partner-oriented plan with our customers’ decision-makers, and planners. This is the only way to recognize the shortfalls of a plan before the ground has been broken.
Are you seeking to cut costs an additional 30% by making your warehouse more efficient?
We want to talk to you. Working closely with the customer forms a unity, which builds one of the pillars on which our basic company convictions are founded: unity means the customer gains a unique opportunity to significantly cut costs and raise customer service levels.
In addition, we place great value on safety and service. We put just as much commitment into the maintenance and spare parts provision for a system that has been running for years or decades as we do on the first day of operation.
Also, the pursuit of innovation doesn't just guarantee our company's future, it is a service you can depend on. Our customers are reassured knowing that we will be around in 20 years to maintain their system, and be able to update it according to their needs.
